What We Know About Merlin
Merlin is a young, sweet, sensitive dog who is only now learning that people can be his friends.
For him, meeting a new person is like taking a walk on the moon: Death-defying! Requiring astonishing bravery and fortitude! He may be eaten by aliens, or float away!
Merlin has no idea *what* might happen if he lets himself get close to you. And he feels strongly that, given the astronomical risk, he should be the one who decides when and whether to approach you.
All of this means that Merlin will have to either get a lot braver, or wait for just the right person. He needs someone gentle who can go at his pace, read his signals, and let him decide when to get closer.
The good news is that he is capable of getting there. With time, space, and gentle encouragement, Merlin has already started to take small but meaningful steps—accepting a little closeness, allowing brief touch, deciding to un-tuck his tail and enjoy a walk. With the right person, those moments will grow.
For that right person, Merlin is exactly the right dog. For someone who finds joy in earning trust and growing courage — who loves celebrating others’ personal moon walks — he offers the chance to build something truly stellar.
All adoptable pets are spayed/neutered (or scheduled), vaccinated, microchipped, and ready to go home today! No pre-application or appointment needed—just bring a valid ID and walk in. Our adoption fees are among the lowest in Cincinnati!
To meet our animals, visit our Northside shelters any day from 1–6pm. If listed as foster, email foster@cincycare.org to schedule a meet and greet. Adopting an adult dog with resident dogs or kids at home? Bring them along to ensure it’s a perfect match.
About Us: Cincinnati Animal CARE proudly serves Hamilton County’s humane society needs, dog warden, and animal control services. We help keep people and pets together and connect strays with future families.
