Meet Delaney, a seriously smart girl who has a lot going on behind those eyes. Her arrival at the shelter was stressful from the get-go, and she’s still figuring out which people and situations she can trust. She’ll need an experienced foster or adopter who understands that trust is earned, not assumed, and who’s willing to let her set the pace.

Get to know her, though, and you’ll discover a dog who loves to learn. One longtime dog person described her as “Seriously one of the smartest dogs I’ve met here,” and she’s already learned “sit,” “paw,” “spin,” “stand up,” and more. And for people who’ve earned her trust? She loves her a chin scratch.

Delaney needs someone who can appreciate both her brains and her boundaries. Give her the time and space to feel safe, and you may find yourself with an exceptionally clever companion who’s ready to take on the world with you.
